2011 SAVINGS CHALLENGE

What is the Savings Challenge at FINANCIALbuilders?

In 2010 Financial Builders Federal Credit Union introduced to the community and its members a program called Savings Challenge designed to help members save and reduce debt. Due to its great success we are having a 2011 Savings Challenge to reach out to another three lucky families to help them improve their financial standings.

The three families must be willing to participate and want to make a commitment for change and to learn a different way to manage their finances. Starting in January, they meet with their personal coaches who are our loan officers here at Financial Builders Federal Credit Union. They are Cindy Harrold, Lena Brown and Charlene Armstrong. Together, they set up a "Plan, Budget, Envelope" system what works for the members and have monthly meetings (more if necessary) through November. The winner is announced in December.

The goals for each of the families are to increase their savings by 5 percent and reduce debt by 3 percent. Then each family set personal goals they want to achieve with their coaches.

Our Chief Financial Officer, Brian Bargerhuff hosts the 12 week Dave Ramsey Course: Financial Peace University.

They must be willing to share their story with the community by being interviewed, have photos done by the Perspective, do interviews on the radio with Z92.5, and have their stories on our website at www.financialbuilders.org. This year we are adding video clips throughout the year for you to watch their progress through their own words.

Though they will all be winners, a grand prize winner will be selected by an outside accounting firm, and that member will get $2000. Both runners-up will receive $500.
